Rare Civet Sighted

A rare Civet (Punugupilli) was spotted wandering in Hyderabad's old city, causing a whirring sensation. The unexpected sight of this wild cat roaming the streets was a scary, yet enthralling surprise for everyone.

• Spotting of the Civet: Residents in Bahadurpura Kishan Bagh spotted the Civet climbing a building. They promptly informed the zoo authorities about the extraordinary find, ensuing a long-drawn, careful hunt for the rare animal.

• A Special Service Offered: Interestingly enough, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam breeds these rare Civets and also offers a special service called "Punugu Ginneseva" for Swami weekly. The Civet's oil is also said to be used for Srivari's idol.

Century-Old Lake Facelift

The century-old Trimulgherry Lake in Secunderabad Cantonment, Telangana, which had become a cesspool, will be restored and beautified. The Telangana MA&UD has allocated Rs. 2.09 crore for a sewer pipeline diversion project to direct sewage away from the lake.

• Lake Rejuvenation: The State Government's decision will greatly benefit over 300 families living in 5 residential colonies (Malani Enclave, Surya Enclave, Padmanabha Colony, Indian Airlines Colony, and Surya Avenue) and other individual residential houses near Trimulgherry Lake.

• The Long Road Here: In 2020, nearby residents of Trimulgherry Lake complained about severe inundation due to sewage entering the lake from three locations. HMWS&SB suggested a diversion pipeline, the TSMDC chairman responded, and MHWS&SB got approval for the long-pending construction.
