The modern Indian fine dining restaurant, Voila hosts monthly food festivals featuring local cuisines from different Indian states. This month, the Jubilee Hills joint has launched the Telangana Food Festival, showcasing traditional recipes from delicious Ragi Sankati with Chicken Curry to yummy Pappu Annam with Chicken Fry from both rural and urban Telangana, including Nizami influences.

  • An Experience Like No Other: Visitors flocked to the fest and were not disappointed. Starting off with Ulavacharu Lentil Soup with horse gram fritters, a variety of starters followed. Some of the traditional delicacies included Kamju Pitta (Quail) Fry and Ellipaya Karam Chepa (Pomfret marinated in a garlic-based spice mix and fried, garnished with deep-fried curry leaves).

  • Words From The Artist: Executive Chef at Voila, Chef Surya Kumar had a thing or two to say about the intricate cooking of the main course. For the succulent, filled 'Paneer', the Chef said that the team had to "hand-pound the filling that goes into the Nawabi Paneer Roll, like the way it was traditionally made back in the day. The slow process done on a cold rolling stone infuses the flavour into the ingredients". The homely feast is preserving the traditional tidbits and serving them up to the foodies of the day!

GHMC Monsoon Prep Goes Awry

Source: Times of India

The failure of GHMC to get the roads revamped by monsoon has rendered several areas in the city remain inaccessible. It is difficult to commute on these roads as large stretches of roads are dug up or crater-ridden. The water pipeline and sewerage projects started in April are still far from complete. GHMC has set a May 31 deadline for the various departments (HMWSSB, TSTRANSCO, TSSPDCL) to coordinate complete pipeline and cable work before the monsoon.

  • Crater Ridden Roads: The road near Shyamlal Building in Begumpet has been dug up by HMWSSB to lay sewage pipelines, making commutes difficult. GHMC partially laid a cement road, but it doesn't solve the problem as the stretch leads to a dug-up pit. Residents complain they are forced to take a long detour via Shopper's Stop to reach their homes. In some areas, pipelines are laid, but roads are still dug-up or full of potholes.

  • Lack of Coordination: As per the local residents, the pipeline projects between Nampally and Bazarghat X Road are done, but road works remain unfinished. The stretch, including areas like Hussain Nagar Colony, BS Maktha, Brahmawadi, Padmashri Hills Park Road, and Gandhinagar, is riddled with craters. However, the lack of coordination between GHMC and other urban local bodies renders the sudden deadline meaningless without proper supervision and phased work.
