City's new scheme to allow citizens to earn money by recycling plastic

Hyderabad's First Hydrogen Plant Planned

Times of India
Amberpet Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Hyderabad is about to go green in more ways than one. Not only does it clean up sewage, but it's also slated to host the cityās first-ever green hydrogen production facility.
Turning Waste Into Hydrogen: While dealing with human "output," the facility, a collaboration between multiple organizations aims to convert waste biogas into hydrogen. The Amberpet STP is stepping up its game from being just a "waste handler" to a "green energy alchemist."
Plans For The Future: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has identified 3 acres onsite at Amberpet STP to set up the green hydrogen plant with a 160-megawatt capacity. This new STP is one among 31 STPs expected to be built in the greater Hyderabad area.

New System For Rewarding Recycling

Siasat
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is taking recycling so seriously that they're doling out rewards for citizens who hand in plastic bottles. Instead of winning a toy in a claw machine, you can now get rewarded for responsible waste disposal!
Good Samaritan Reward: Simply go ahead and drop those plastic water bottles into "smart reverse vending machines" across Hyderabad. As part of the incentive, individuals will receive monetary compensation directly into their e-wallets, which can later be transferred to other accounts.
How It Works: Itās easy ā you place the plastic bottle into the machine, and based on its weight, the machine dispenses an appropriate compensation amount into your mobile e-wallet. Next time you're in Hyderabad and find yourself tossing a plastic bottle into a regular bin, remember: You just threw away some easy money!

Property Deals Drop Sharply

Land prices in Hyderabad are soaring higher than a teenager's hopes and dreams, leading to a noticeable drop in property deals in the city. This real estate melodrama now has Hyderabad trailing behind key cities in India when it comes to closing the deal.
Accounting For 1% of Deals: Real estate in Hyderabad is learning the tale of Icarus through expensive land deals. According to data by ANAROCK for January-August 2023 period, 59 land deals for over 2,018 acres were clinched across India, of which Hyderabad had only two deals aggregating 18 acres, accounting for just 1% of top deals in key eight cities.
Wait and Watch: With the rush for the non-sparkly gold of land sending prices soaring, has cut down the wings of growth. Developers are cautious about investing in the city and Hyderabad is on the verge of losing the affordable tag.

Techies Prone To Heart Diseases & More

ETV Bharat
Hyderabad's bustling IT professionals, who've mastered the art of juggling code and coffee, as per a National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) report, are at higher risk of heart diseases, strokes & non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like cardiac ailments.
Beware of Sedentary Jobs: If you thought debugging was your biggest concern, guess again. According to NIN, it turns out that sitting in your ergonomic chair and staring at multiple screens doesn't quite qualify as a cardio workout. You might want to replace caffeine with good old exercise and balanced diets.
What You Can Do: If you're in the high-stress, low-movement world of ITāor any sedentary job, for that matterāthere's still hope to dodge the grim forecast. Sneak in short, active breaks throughout the day to do some light stretching or quick walks around the building; even better if you can manage a walk outside for some Vitamin D from sunlight.

Hyderabad Hosting Back-To-Back World Cup Games

ESPN Cric Info
In a display of athletic ambition (or sheer overcommitment), Hyderabad has decided to host back-to-back ODI World Cup games. While cricket fans rejoice at the doubleheader, groundskeepers might need to dig into their reservesāor a pot of coffee.
Rare Move: Ah, Hyderabad, where the biryani is as legendary as the cricket fever. But hosting back-to-back matches is akin to pulling an all-nighter in college: sure, you get to cram all the fun (or horror) in, but at what cost? The on-ground staff will need to hustle like they've never hustled before, converting the pitch from a war zone to a pristine playground within no time.
Ready For The Challenge: The move promises to make Hyderabad the Mecca for cricket enthusiasts during the ODI season. But like any religious pilgrimage, it comes with its set of sacrificesānamely, sleep and sanity for the team working behind the scenes. Let's just hope the result is a heavenly experience for fans and not an overworked, underprepared pitch that makes players wish they'd called in sick.
