The Tune of The Universe

Source: Telangana Today

IITH researchers found evidence of the Universe's humming in international collaboration. They used six top radio telescopes, including India's uGMRT, to monitor pulsar's nature's precise clocks from deep space.

  •  Insights Into Black Holes: Researchers from IIT-H, in collaboration with international teams, published results from pulsar monitoring using top radio telescopes, along with India's uGMRT. The findings hint at ultra-low frequency gravitational waves caused by massive black hole pairs, marking a significant milestone in gravitational wave exploration. These waves, generated by supermassive black hole pairs in colliding galaxies, create a continuous cosmic humming with vast wavelengths.

  • Published in Two Papers: The team, including EPTA and InPTA consortia members, published their results in Astronomy and Astrophysics journal. Their findings suggest the presence of gravitational waves in their 25-year pulsar data set obtained from six major radio telescopes.
