Final Hurdle Cleared!

Source: Curious Times
The plan for 24x7 operation of shops and establishments is set to be green lighted soon. The ambiguity regarding the accountability has been resolved, and the labor department has been entrusted with granting permissions.
Final Nod with Labour Wing: According to sources, the labor department will grant 24-hour permissions directly, bypassing the need for prior police approval. Initially delayed by involvement from both labor and police departments, the labor department has now requested sole responsibility for granting permissions. The police department retains the ability to recommend permission revocation in cases of illegal activities. A revised plan will soon be issued.
Aim to Dive Business: Shops can apply for 24X7 operation permission from the labor department for a fee of Rs. 10,000. Wine shops regulated by the Excise Act are excluded from continuous operations. Malls are likely to seek permission to attract more customers, especially on weekends. Individual shops though face challenges, as a local textile owner highlighted the importance of having multiple shops open in an area to attract customers.

Rain! Rain! Please Come This Way

As the dog days of summer continue and the mercury soars past 40, the people of Hyderabad are eagerly awaiting the monsoon. A similar situation is being witnessed across multiple districts in Telangana. With the delay in the onset of monsoon, the denizens of Hyderabad have no respite from the scorching sun. The latest bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stating the conditions are becoming favourable for the advancement of the South West monsoon has brought a little hope and joy.
Delayed Monsoon: As per the IMD, the South West monsoon onsets over Hyderabad around June 8. Ten days past the date, the clouds are yet to burst open in the Hyderabad sky this monsoon. The IMD tracks the onset of monsoon through the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM). This imaginary line currently lies near Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh and will move into Southern Peninsula around June 18-21, causing a delay of 13 days.
Cooler Weather: The IMD predicts that low-level westerlies or north-west westerlies will bring in moderate thundershowers in few parts of Telangana till Monday. It is predicted that thunderclouds will occupy the sky in Hyderabad over the week, bringing down the temperatures to 37 degrees.
